SCAdians of New Hampshire
Lord
Fionnbhar Silverhand
(of Clann O'Choda and House
Silverwood)
Award of Arms; Order of Troubadour; Companion of the Maunche
MKA: Finn O'Hern
Region: Stonemarche, Belknap County
Era: Beginning of Viking Age
Joined SCA: Just before Pennsic 9
Activities: Bardic Arts (incl.
Singing/Songwriting/Filking, Poetry, Storytelling), Minstrelry
(primarily fiddle, harp, cittern, guitar, whistles, bodhran).
Kitchen Prep Cook for Events. Knife/Dagger Fighting (aka Tavern
Fighting). Beginning Fencer. [Heavy List Fighter, retired.]
Satire, Pointing out The Obvious, Bad Puns, Telling the Truth,
and... SINGING ABOUT IT.
Persona: Finn's
mother lived around 600-700 A.D., between the regions of modern-day
Dublin and Cork, Ireland. A year before Finn's birth, his mother's
town was raided by Viking Norsemen. His mother was taken prisoner
by one of the Viking leaders, who liked her looks. As she did
his, it should be noted.
The long journey back to Norseland was without much in the way
of diversion, but Finn's mother and the sturdy Viking who had
taken her as his woman found much to talk about in private.
Much indeed. Yes, indeed. The Viking who was to be Finn's father
was seen to be visibly fading as the journey progressed. He
remained cheerful, but suffering as if from lack of sleep, and
the sapping of his energy. (Meanwhile, Finn's mom was walking
around with a big, happy, satisfied smile on her face.)
Finally, the Viking lord died, presumably of exhaustion. But
not before fathering Finn.
Finn was born in Norseland, and raised both Celt and Norseman.
He has a love of arms, and of music (particularly Celtic). He
has traveled rather widely, most notably into Eastern and Central
Asia while among the Rus Vikings, into Persia, and South to
Celtiberia (Spain). He has collected what songs and music he
can during his travels, and loves best to play for dancing.
He still prefers to wear his native Northern dress, except when
serving as retainer to his Clann's Chieftain.
He is betrothed to the loveliest lady in ALL the Knowne World,
and will SLAY the dog who DARES say otherwise --- and then have
a beer with him.

Iride Corsellini
(Righteous Sister of the Priory of St Colin)
MKA: Jen Hagan
Region: Giggleswick
Joined SCA: 2000
Era: Florence, Italy 16th Century
Persona: Iride was the youngest daughter of a textile merchant
who's mother died in a tragic horseback riding accident. When her
father's business went belly up, his banker made a bid for her hand in
marriage as a way to protect her from poverty. Her elderly husband took a
shine to her pecular ways and allowed her to do most unmaidenly things,
such as learning how to use a sword. He died early in their marriage,
leaving Iride a wealthy widow able to scandalize Florence by carrying a
sword, travelling extensively, and associating with some unsavory
characters who seem to think they are 11th c. Vikings.
Activities: fencing, sewing, embroidery, wood carving, cooking, archery,
calligraphy and illumination, Viking studies, and a few things I haven't
tried yet.
